Why can't I hear it?! I'm younger than all of you!!

And I thought you were all teasing me about being prematurely middle-aged. Right, I'm off to get a blue rinse...

Why oh why would anyone want that as a ringtone? It's painful to listen to. What I want to know is whether the the teacher will notice when the dog leaps through the window and rips out the kids throat? Has anyone thought of the liability of attaching a giant dog whistle to every teenager in the country?

On second thoughts, no more kids on the bus because they have been eaten by Rambo the Rottweiler? This is genius. I support it fully.

Yeah, I thought that about actually answering the phone too (vibrate function? No-one else would be in on the joke...), but then the NYT article they linked to mentioned that the kids were more about using the ringtone to alert them of an incoming text message rather than a phone call.

At least it did. Now it wants you to sign in to read it. *sighs*

I could hear it... perhaps I'm not too old yet.

Stupid point from theregister, though:

<blockquote>Kids in Manhattan have been sharing the tone and using it to receive calls during class without teachers hearing.</blockquote>

a) what's wrong with the vibrate function?
b) think the teacher might notice some oik shouting "HELLO? NAH, CAN'T TALK NOW, I'M IN SCHOOL!"...
