Brain IV
Welcome to version 4 of Aching Brain. It's been an awfully long time, but I promise to post more often.
The major change is that I've switched from a custom back end to pre-written blog software as maintaining it became a bit of a nightmare. I say maintaining - what I mean is writing new versions of it as who wants to administer crufty old code when they get home? AB4 has been in the works for over a year but I never seemed to be able to finish it without wanting to re-write great big chunks of it so I've bitten the bullet and gone down the shoulders-of-giants route. And I have to say, so far it's been relatively painless - the only thing that's really given me trouble is getting apostrophes to play nice in code tags, but more on that later.
All the old content should be here somewhere. The only difference is a slight change in the URL structure but a little bit of .htaccess fiddling should mean that incoming links still point in the right place.
If you spot anything amiss, do let me know.

The Brane is back
Welcome to the Aching Brain, version 3.
It's been somewhat neglected over the last year as, well, I moved in with most of the people who read it. But in a couple of months it'll be on to pastures new so it's time for a bit of a renaissance.
This is all very much still a work in progress, so expect stuff to be broken in pretty much any and all browsers. Don't expect links to go anywhere and any comments about pages not validating will be ignored.
Look at the calendar on the right - it's driven by AJAX, so you can quickly switch month without reloading the page, yet when you first load the page, it will always show you the month that the blog you are reading was posted in. What a lot of fun. It's all the rage this summer, don't you know. Of course, if you don't have JavaScript turned on you won't know what I'm talking about.
The more astute of you will notice that some of the comments that were previously missing have been restored. Thanks for this go to the <a href="http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/features.html#cached">Google Cache</a>. Unfortunately I could not find all of them after the Cube exploded, so feel free to repost any witicisms that didn't make it...
Anyway, <a href="http://www.topgear.com">Top Gear</a>'s on..

New! Pretty!
All new website! Hussah!
I'm going to try to post more often on this one. Might even put some pictures up. Maybe.
Anyway I'd like you to point your mouse/screen reader/arrow keys/whatever at the word 'katherine' and see what's on the mind of the better half. If she's stopped playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 long enough to post something.. :-/
Enjoy..
